There are many sources in Tehillim which speak about thanking as a means of prayer. We are obligated to spread Hashem’s name and tell the world about the miracles. (Zohar)

When Hashem sees that a person is grateful for every situation He says, “I will show you what really good is, so you can thank me even more”!
